Fashion that Fights for a Cure
As October begins many people are excited about the beautiful fall weather, pumpkin baked goods, hot apple cider, Halloween, and cute scarves and boots. But the month of October is special for another important reason…it is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month is dedicated to bringing awareness of this disease as well as to raise funds for research to help women and doctors find ways of preventing, diagnosing and curing this cancer.
Whether or not breast cancer has directly affected you or a loved one, it is important for everyone to join together to support breast cancer research and help put an end to this terrible disease. Fortunately, finding ways to get involved in this fund-raising is easy. One of the easiest ways for fashionistas to show their support for breast cancer awareness is to purchase fashionable products whose proceeds go to supporting breast cancer research and other related charities.
Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC) is a charitable organization started by the Council of Fashion Designers of America/CFDA Foundation. Its goal is to bring together fashion designers, models and retailers to raise public awareness and funds for the breast cancer cause, in the U.S. and internationally. They currently offer a stylish t-shirt that features the iconic FTBC logo for purchase. All proceeds from the t-shirt are donated to FTBC.
Giuliana Rancic (a breast cancer survivor herself!) designed a gorgeous statement necklace for Loft stores in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
US Trendy is also offering a variety of fashion accessories whose proceeds go to support breast cancer awareness and research such as this cute “LOVE” necklace. It’s simple design makes it the perfect everyday piece for both younger and older fashionistas to show their support.
Coach is donating 20% of each sale made from special pink, breast cancer awareness products (like this cute magenta Madison leather Isabelle bag) to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Michael Kors designed special Breast Cancer Research Foundation Bracelets in which 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these bracelets will directly support the BCRF.
Do you enjoy breaking a sweat at the gym? Then this Women’s PIP UA Go Pink Or Go Home T-Shirt from Under Armour is perfect for you. Plus, a portion of all proceeds are donated to national breast cancer charities and medical centers.
These are just a few of the many fashion-related pieces available whose proceeds go to supporting breast cancer awareness. This month, let us all come together to show our support and take part in the fight against this terrible disease. How will you be showing your support this October or any other day of the year? Please comment and share!
